HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP

Humanoids from the Deep Movie Review

After some half-brained experiments go haywire. human-fish mutant creatures emerge to wreak havoc on a small town. Coming to us from 1980, this Roger Corman production is considered a classic in some circles, and it's easy to see why, as there's something for just about everybody in this one. Do you prefer your monsters to be of the rubber suit variety?

Are you into lots of blood and gore?

Check

Do you enjoy watching women wearing little to no clothing?

Are Native American Ahabs your thing?

You say you really like dummies?

Double check

Throw in some bad acting, nonsensical dialogue, goofs and continuity errors, a carnival setting, some fire, and a finale scene that blatantly and without apology rips off an iconic horror moment, and really...what ISN'T in this movie? The film even inspired a 1996 remake--the less we talk about that, the better. An interesting tidbit of this movie is Roger Corman insisted more scenes of sex and nudity be added to the film. The director, Barbara Peeters, refused, so an uncredited Jimmy Murakami was brought in to do it. In the unlikely event you were wondering, this is why some humanoids are sexual with the women, and others just kill them. Anyway, this movie is an absolute blast. Do yourself a favor--some Friday night at 11:30, make some popcorn, add extra butter, pop this movie in, and thank me later.
