RED VELVET

Red Velvet Movie Review

Aaron (Henry Thomas E.T., Fire In The Sky) meets his neighbor Linda (Kelli Garner), a woman upset that she is stuck in a bad relationship and that she has missed her sister’s party. Aaron takes Linda to lunch, where he tells her stories, including a story of what Linda is missing at the party…a killer taking out her friends one at a time. This is a somewhat funny film that is a tongue in cheek nod to 80’s slasher films.

Weirdness

The strength of the film is the scenes of what is going on at the party as Aaron tells the story--less entertaining are the scenes of Aaron and Linda, but what irritated me about those scenes (wondering why Aaron would continue talking to somebody so rude and mean) makes more sense in the end. This could have had a fantastic ending--the potential was there--but sadly, it didn't turn out that way. Pretty unique and gory death scenes here and there, with some humor thrown in as well, make the film worth a watch.

On A Scale Of One To Ten: 6
