Day Of The Dead Movie Review

This is the 2008 direct to video remake of Romero's 1985 film, though to call it a remake is a bit misleading. Much like the original, this does have a combination of civilians and military, but it does not take place underground, and the cast, for the most part, is much younger than in the original. Unlike the original, this one has the fast moving zombies, and, I have to admit, though I love old, classic horrors, the fast moving zombies (popularized by 28 Days Later) are much scarier and intense.

Other than Mena Suvari (The Rage: Carrie 2) and Ving Rhames (Dawn of the Dead), the acting here is pretty poor. This has tons of gore; unfortunately, bad CGI ruins some of it. All in all, it's not a bad movie and certainly one worth checking out. It moves much faster and smoother than the original and, this may be horror movie blasphemy, but I prefer this one to the original.
